            Religion is very big in the United States.  There are a lot of people who think religion is a good thing and there are a lot of people who think religion is non-sense.  I am the kind of person who thinks religion is a very good thing.  Everyone needs someone to look towards and who better to look towards than Jesus Christ himself.

            I feel religion is a very important part of life.  The main reason why religion is important is because everyone needs someone to look towards.  If someone thinks they have no one to look to for help they are wrong because Jesus Christ himself is always there to help.  No matter what is wrong he will be there to help.  As all you have to do is pray to him and he will guide you through it, in my eyes anyway. 

            Religion is really good for those who are in trouble.  People who are in trouble look towards Jesus Christ for help.  They feel that no one can help them so the call upon Jesus Christ or another leader in religion and look to this leader as if they were a savior.  People who are in trouble go to a leader as a last resort.  They like to say that they found God or whomever they have called upon.  They feel that if they found their leader then they are making an improvement in life and making a difference. 

            Another reason why religion is good is because when death occurs, the family of the deceased likes to know that their loved one is going to heaven, and that the deceased is taken care of for eternity.   I know that if I was to die I would want to die in peace and I would want my family to make sure I was at rest in the hands of leader of the religion that I’m worshiping. 

            Religion played a large role in my life when I was growing up and learning everything I have learned as a Catholic I believe in God, Heaven, Hell, The 10 Commandments, and learning the difference between good and evil.  There has been many times in my life where I had to choose between those two, and not every time did I make the right choice.  But in time I realized and learned from my mistakes.  I let my religion lead me to be a good Catholic. 

            I have also realized in the past with many situations how serious people can be about their religion.  Things that some people do, being a Catholic for instance, people in the Catholic Church do not believe in Gays, and homosexuality.  Being a Catholic I don’t think people should discriminate on how they love another person.  Even though straight people are respected more I just believe that God makes things happen for a reason and if someone is gay and in the Catholic religion then they should be respected for who they are and not for whom they love.  Love is a very strong word that should not be taken lightly and if someone loves someone then they should know the depth of love and how much it could mean to another person. 

            Being in the Catholic Religion I honestly think that some people take religion a little too seriously. I have practiced this religion for a long time, and to say what I have said doesn’t make me a bad Catholic or even wrong, I am just stating what is on my mind. To think that someone in my religion would disagree with me and I know quite a few people do that is something they are all going to have to deal with, I am my own person. No one can change me or make me any different from what I have learned and grown up around.
