Confidence is a critical leadership competency that inspires confidence in a team. Sarah is lacking the skill that is critical in leading others. The servant leadership approach entails having leaders who serve first before getting served by others (Northouse, 2016). The leader puts the needs of others before their own and attends to their needs by leading by example. Such leaders get concerned with employees who are less privileged as they aim at leading everyone without discrimination. Sarah exhibits some of the leadership characteristics of a servant- leadership approach. The first attribute she has is that of carefully listening to the followers (Diggins, 2015). Empathy is the other quality attribute that Sarah seems to show when interacting with the staff.
An example is when she was dealing with Paula as she provided her resources to help in her transition. However, there are limitations that Sarah is showing that may hinder from leading well. The first weakness is that she does not accept help from others. As a leader, Sarah ought to delegate work and collaborate with the team to work cohesively. Refusing help may affect the cohesiveness of the group as it shows a lack of trust in the team members.
