Roman Holiday Film Performance Analysis
A Roman Holiday film is an American romantic film whose Audrey Hepburn and Gregory Peck are Stars. Audrey acts as royal princes while Gregory Peck is a reporter. I would propose a revival of the Roman Holiday movie for it to be more interesting and entertaining to today’s audience. Romance has dominated the world for a day, “Valentine day “was set apart to celebrate love globally. In revived thefilm, I would do the following changes or advancement;the mood of the story, modernstagecraft, modern story formatting, Modernize plotting of the story, replacing the old fashioned melodies in the film with modern melodies, etc.
Changing mood design in the film will ensure the audience likes the movie. The mood in this film is not clearly portrayed. The film doesn’t focus too much on the mood it creates to the audience, in may revive version, I will ensure audience mood is fully on romance by making the story plotromantic. I will ensure the stage lights, character dressing, character emotions, and film music creates an atmosphere of romance to the audience, hence boosting their mood. The setup of the plot will relate fully will the culture of modern society to make the audience feel appreciated and feel the fill is crucial to them. The red color will dominate in the whole film, this is because, and red color is the color that portrays romance in modern society. This is evident since couples are always in red on valentine’s day.
I will ensure my film version has a filmmaking visual medium. The audience requires more show than being told in a film. The current film concentrates more on understanding the audience rather than showing the audience. For example, Gregory peck only says why he is not married, but the film doesn’t show any circumstance he had tried to marry and how the situation was difficult for him. In my version, I would input digital inputs to show flashbacks and imagination of characters accompanied by talks. This will ensure the audience enjoys, and at some points, they will tend to be emotional.
To enhance the performance of the revived film, I will modernize the stagecraft. Stagecraft focuses on the technical field of the film. The current version of stagecraft is not perfect for the modern audience as modern technology is not involved. The modern cinema should consider modern theater. The hanging and focusing the lights on ensuring the events are recorded appropriately and ensure no incidence passes the viewers. The film scene should be well arranged in a modern manner as compared to the original film, where the scene is arranged historically. The musical instruments, for example, should be appropriately arranged for operators to have a clear view of characters on the stage, this will ensure the music induction is conducted at the right place of the act; hence modernized stagecraft in my version will enhance the performance of the film.
The music in the film enhances performance. The melodies are always connected to the theme of the film. The musical Rhythm in a cinema production gives the rise of the image (Jacobs Pg. 21).Melodies are essential in a play as it enhances the performance of the film. Music contributes to ensuring the flow of the play by connecting what is happening in a melodic tune. This ensures the audience is not bored while watching or viewing the play. In this play, melodies used are not modern; hence audiences in the contemporary era can quickly be bored by these melodies. In my revived version of this film, I will ensure the tunes accompanying the theme of romance in the movie are modernized under the culture of modern society.I will ensure modern musical instruments are the ones used to produce the melodies, and they should be operated by qualified persons to ensure quality melodies. This will contribute to the performance of the film. Music is a crucial aspect in a movie and, at times, get the audience emotionally, as seen in the play. When Audrey is singing, the people in the scene are seen to be clapping, laughing, and copying the movements of Audrey. This is evident that music is vital in a film.
The format in which the film is set is notmodern. The film’s focus is on the ancient form. This may lead to modern society not clearly understanding what is going on as some don’t dwell much on history. In my version, I will ensure the contemporary formatting of the film in inconsideration with the theme of romance. The film scenes should also reflect modern society. For example, the mode of transport in the movie are carts and horses, in contemporary society, I will replace them with vehicles, trains, planes, and also ships. This will ensure the film looks modern in favor of the modern audience.
Audience clapping, laughter, shouting, and gestures show the response of the audience satisfaction or desertification. In my revived version I will ensure the audience satisfaction is my motive, I will ensure they understand the whole story and improve the areas where the audience showed emotions of satisfaction in this film to my version. I will achieve this by ensuring the characters in the film understands their roles and the whole plot of the story.
For a performance to be a success, the plot of the story should be clearly built. A sequence of events to take place should be clean and well arranged to avoid confusion in the production. Audience understanding is essential to any play since they are the ones to watch the paly. If the plot is well defined and the characters understand their role in the play, then the performance will be automatically achieved.
