1) What is the dark psychology
Dark psychology Is basically defined as science and art of mind control and manipulation. This phenomenon describes the ways and tactics used by people to Persuade, manipulate coercion motivate others. Although some people use dark psychology techniques to help others out, there is another group that uses it for selfish gains. As we learn how to use dark psychology in a positive way, we also need to identify the characteristics of those using it for selfish gains and how to avoid them. According to psychologists and criminologists, Most of the people who use dark psychology for personal benefits in a selfish way have certain behaviors given the term “The dark triad”.
The dark psychology triad involves Narcissism, Psychopathy, and Machiavellianism,
Narcissism is characterized by Grandiosity, egoism and mostly, lack of empathy.
Psychopathy is characterized by charm and friendliness but in the real sense, there is some hidden selfish agenda, selfishness, lack of empathy, impulsiveness and utter lack of remorse.
No one wants to be a victim of manipulation or exploitation but we fall victim every now and then. Lack of knowledge about dark psychology leaves us vulnerable to manipulation. You may not be a victim of someone who fits in the dark triad but still, there are people in our daily life using one or two tactics to get us where they want.
Did you know that some of these tactics can be found in sales techniques, internet ads, commercials, and in the behaviors of some managers? If you have children, especially toddlers and teenagers, you most definitely understand the techniques used by them to get you to do things. A lot of teenagers experiment with some of the techniques used in dark psychology to seek autonomy or have their way. In fact, dark persuasion and covert manipulation are mostly used by people you love and trust. As unreal as t might sound, the people who know you well are more likely to use these coercion techniques than strangers because they understand the buttons to push in you. Some of the techniques used every day by normal people to manipulate others include choice restriction, Withdrawal, love flooding, love denial, lying, and reverse psychology
Choice restriction involves giving a person choices but distracting them from the choice you do not want them to make. Normally, a person using choice restriction will limit your consideration time and ask for an answer immediately or as soon as possible, and make sure that you do not think clearly before choosing.
Withdrawal includes silent treatment and avoidance of the person. This technique normally works on people who are afraid of being alone and those who seek attention and survive on the approval of other people.
Love denial involves withholding affection and attention from a particular person.
Love flooding is the technique involving affection, compliments, or battering in an attempt to make someone bend to our wishes.
Reverse psychology involves telling someone to do something with the intention of making them do the opposite which is what you really want.
Lying involves withholding the truth, telling partial truths, Retaining and exaggerating some information.
Semantic manipulation involves the use of words with similar meanings to confuse a person (Create the picture of being misunderstood.). People using this technique usually come back later and say that they meant a different thing. Words are very powerful.
While some people use dark psychology techniques for selfish gains knowingly, there are others who are unaware of their habits. Some individuals use unethical and dark tactics to have their ways unconsciously. Most of these people who use dark psychology unconsciously usually pick the habit from parents and people around them at a young age. Having gathered these techniques from childhood, the users think it is normal. Others lean these habits in their teenage years or adulthood. There are others who learnt these skills by coincidence, for instance, they just tried something and it worked to their advantage thus start using consistently but unconsciously.
In some cases, people are professionally trained to use these tactics to their advantage. For instance, most salespersons and marketers use some dark psychology to get clients. The programs that normally use dark persuasion skills are mostly marketing and sales. Basically, these programs do not use dark psychology to truly help the customer; rather, they aim at attracting them for self-serving purposes. Interestingly, the program convinces its learners that dark psychology is okay because the customer is the final beneficiary of the purchased product. The trained manipulator also gets manipulated at some point.
Let us look at some of the people who use dark psychology tactics the most.
1. Salespeople – These are some of the main users who we meet on a daily basis. They use advertisements, door to door campaigns, Professional language and any other tool they can access to persuade us to purchase a particular thing. This mostly applies to the salespeople who are so obsessed with reaching a target that they do anything to make people buy their products
2. Sociopaths (Those who meet the clinical diagnosis.) – People who are truly psychopathic lack the ability to feel remorse and a sense of emotionality. On the other side, these people are often intelligent, charming and yet impulsive. They use these characteristics to their advantage by using Dark psychology tactics to build extra strong relationships with people they later take advantage of without second thought.
3. Attorneys – Most of the attorneys are focused on winning a case. As such, they use any tactics to get the results they desire. Some attorneys resort to dark persuasion techniques.
4. Narcissists – The people who meet the clinical definition of the term narcissist have an inflated sense of self-worth. Normally, they need other people to praise them and rub their ego. The narcissist wants everyone to believe that he/she is superior to them. He/she basically desires to adored and worshipped excessively. As a result, the narcissist will use any tactic including dark psychology persuasion and unethical manipulation to have followers.
5. Politicians – A large number of politicians are selfish and will do anything to get votes. They sometimes turn to dark psychology techniques to convince people about what they believe.
6. Leaders – Some leaders and managers use dark tactics to get others to comply and act in a particular way.
7. Selfish people – There are people who only have a self-centered agenda and will do anything to get what they want. In some cases, these people may use Tactics to meet their needs without caring about the consequences on others.
8. public speakers – You might be wondering how a public speaker whose intention is to help the people become better can use dark tactics. Well, they can. Sometimes, some speakers use dark tactics to get more followers and even sell more products.
Yes, I know I might have stepped on some toes by mentioning the above people but it is important to know the basics. Attorneys, public speakers, salespersons, leaders, and all the other people are trying to make a living. However, they need to be honest about their work and avoid using manipulative tactics. As a potential victim, you need to be able to identify when a person is using manipulative and dark psychology techniques, for good or bad intentions.
Basically, a salesperson can make more sales for a company by using dark psychology and manipulative tactics. In fact, some salespeople admit that their organizations train and require them to use dark psychology to meet targets, get customers and retain them. This is very unfortunate and although the company will get revenue, it will finally lead to poor business practices, distrust, poor employee loyalty, and less long-term success.
To differentiate between the ethical and unethical motivation, and persuasion techniques, it is important that one assesses his/her intentions. You need to ask yourself, are these techniques benefiting all of us or is it just one person? Note that, it is okay for the techniques to help you alongside other people but it is unethical to use these techniques selfishly. It is easy to fall into using dark techniques if intentions are entirely selfish.
The first step to avoiding using dark psychology for selfish intention is to aim for a win-win situation. A salesperson should aim to sell a product that will benefit the customer. He/she should be able to stay honest with the customer. In most cases, the salesperson seeks to tell the potential customer about the benefits of these products so that he/she can make a purchase.
If you are a leader, a salesperson, a marketer, or anyone of these people who might fall into using dark psychology techniques for self-centered purposes, it is important for you to ask yourself
– What is my intention or goal in this interaction?
– Do my actions benefit anyone else or is it just me?
– Do I feel good about my approach to this interaction?
– I’m totally open and honest with the other person?
– Will the results of this conversation be beneficial to everyone in the long-term?
– In the end, will I have a healthier and trusting relationship with this person?
Such self-analysis will help a person to avoid using selfish dark psychology techniques on others. If you truly want to be successful in relationships, career, leadership work, parenting and other areas of life, it is important for you to assess your current tactics for persuasion and motivation. Doing the right thing in the right way will lead to long term positive influence and credibility. Using dark techniques to get what you want might help you for a while but in the long term, you will lose, have broken relationships, have poor character, and lose credibility because people will see through the mask. Keep in mind the fact that more people are learning dark psychology and how to identify its users. More people are learning how to be emotionally intelligent to avoid manipulation and unethical manipulation.
As mentioned earlier, dark psychology is the art of manipulation and persuasion. According to criminologists, dark psychology is a branch of study covering the human conditions that relate to the nature of people preying on others motivated by deviant or criminal drives that lack a win-win drive. Technically, all of humanity has the potential to make other victims of selfish motives. The only difference is that some people suppress their dark side while others act on the impulses.
Dark psychology as a study seeks to understand these thoughts perceptions, feelings and subjective processes that lead people to predatory behavior. What makes one behave in an antithetical manner that defies contemporary human behaviour? Dark psychology explains that deviant, criminal and abusive behaviour is purposive and has some rational and goal-oriented motive ninety-nine percent of the time. The remaining 1 percent is assumed to be the region in the human psyche that enables some of us to commit atrocious acts with or without purpose.
2) Mind control techniques
Is it possible for a person to control the mind of another? This is a fear that many people have – Nobody wants other people to control their mind without approval. The thought and concept of controlling the mind minds of other people has led to the term ‘Mind control’ which is often used in most conspiracy theories where people and things such as government and aliens are suspected to be managing human minds. Basically, mind control involves influencing the thoughts of a person and in some cases, it can be very strong. However, there is no guarantee that every person can be influenced using mind control techniques.
Mind control is also termed as thought reform, manipulation, mental control, brainwash, Coercive control coercive persuasion, malignant use of group dynamics among others. Since the term is used to define so many forms of control, there is a lack of agreement n the exact definition. Consequently, this disagreement allows for distortion and confusion especially by these people using mind control techniques for their own selfish gains. For the purposes of our study, let us agree that mind control techniques come under the bracket of influence and persuasion. The idea behind mind control is to change what a person believes and how he/she behaves.
Some people argue that everything a result of manipulation. However, since the word manipulation is often used to define a negative aspect in people, terming the entire mind control as such leaves us at a loss of important distinctions. When analysing mind control and its techniques, it is more helpful to think of influence as a continuum whereby one end holds respectful and ethical influences while the other end is a collection of bad influence techniques. There are some mind control techniques that respect an individual while others are destructive and tend to strip the person of all his/her identity, ability to think logically or critically and independence.
It is this bad end that we want to avoid. Normally, cults, sects, selfish manipulators and persuaders are found in this zone. These members use mind control techniques and deception to take advantage of others. They focus on the weaknesses and strengths of their victims and use them to satisfy their selfish needs. Most of mind control techniques are used by people in one- on -one cult. A one on one cult refers to an intimate relationship whereby one person abuses his/her power to exploit the other for instance therapist-client, teacher-student, wife/husband, pastor worshiper, et cetera. The basic cultic relationships mentioned above are versions of the larger group cults and they can be more dangerous because all attention and time is directed to one person.
Mind control can be best thought of as an influence system significantly disrupting the individual on a very core level. The techniques used in mind control affect the identity of a person, that is, his beliefs, values, preferences, practices, behaviors, decisions, relationships, among others, creating a new pseudo-personality or pseudo-identity. You see, Mind control can be used for the benefit of the victim, for instance, to help a drug addict overcome his/her addiction. However, in this case, we are concentrating on the unethical and inherently bad practices.
According to psychologists, Philip Zimbardo, mind control compromises the collective or individual freedom of choice. He also adds that anyone can be a victim of mind control. Technically, mind control is not an ancient and secretive mystery known by a few selected individuals, rather, it is a composition of words and grouped pressures, packaged and presented in a way that allows the victimizer to create dependency in followers. The people using mind control make decisions for their victims but makes them believe that they are independent and have freedom of choice. Normally, the person being controlled is not aware of the techniques and processes being used, neither is he/she aware of the changes taking place within them.
There are some important distinctions you need to make. Firstly, Mind control is subtle and that means, the affected individual will hardly notice the changes and the extent of influence ]directed to him/her. Note, this insidious process can have devastating effects because it entraps and causes harm to the victim. Because of the subtle nature of the influence, victims think they are still in charge of their decisions while in fact, there are other people making decisions for them. Furthermore, mind control does not happen overnight that is why it is referred to as a process. It takes time – The amount of time taken depends on the techniques used, the intended results, the duration of exposure, the ability of the manipulator to influence, and personal factors. Nowadays, some manipulators are so skilled that they achieve their results in a few hours. Though there is no physical force used by manipulators in mind control, social and psychological forces and pressures are put to play.
Is mind control the same as brainwashing?
Though mind control and brainwashing involve altering the beliefs of an individual, there are some key differences. First, mind control is entirely subtle while brainwashing might involve force in some cases. In brainwashing, the victim is well aware that the victimizer is an enemy. For instance, in the case of war prisoners, they know that the aggressor is an enemy and their survival entirely depends on cooperation. In fact, the captors can use physical force to achieve what they want. As such, the prisoners change their beliefs to stay alive. However, in most cases, once they escape from the enemy, all the effects of the brainwash disappear.
On the other hand, mind control is more subtle and the victimizer has to be sophisticated to ensure that he/she is not detected. The person doing mental control is usually a close person such as a teacher, a friend or a spouse thus the victim will not suspect anything. In fact, it will not occur to them to take a defensive stand. To make matters worse, the victim might even be a willing participant because he believes the victimizer has good intentions. Furthermore, the victims will give information willingly which the manipulator then uses to continue with mind control.
The fact that most victims of mind control are not aware of the intentions of the manipulators makes this process more dangerous than that of brainwashing. From this comparison we can that mind control can be more effective than physical abuse, torture, and even drugs because the effects will last longer. An important point to note, in control does not involve physical torture but it is more effective compared to brainwashing.
The main reason why mind control is more effective is that coercion tends to change behavior but mind control ( Coercion persuasion) changes the attitudes, beliefs, thinking processes and behaviors (Change of personality). Highlight – The victim actively and happily facilitates and participates in the alteration process, believing that it is the best course. Later on, it becomes very hard for them to believe that a person they trusted actually deceived them. That trust is the reason why mind control goes undetected. Even when the manipulator is gone, the victim still carries on with the learnt beliefs, attitudes, behaviours and personality because he/she believes that the decision was entirely his/hers. The impact of decisions we have made last longer than those we clearly know that someone else pushed for. Furthermore, it is very hard to admit that the decisions you believe to have made were actually completely influenced by someone else. More so if it was trickery by a friend.
Most manipulators using mind control techniques will tell the victim that no one is holding a gun to their head or forcing them to decide. As a result, the victim believes he/she has made the decision out of a free will. The conviction that no one is forcing the other into anything is very powerful and a manipulator will always look for such advantages. Anyone who does not understand mental control techniques will have no ground to argue that he/she was manipulated. The manipulated person will feel that no one is forcing them this believe that he/she is responsible for his/her decisions. And since the decisions we have made for ourselves have more power than those made by others for us, we get propelled further into the false reality created through mind control
While it is might be unlikely for you to be the target of a manipulator, there are a variety of common techniques you might be exposed to on a daily basis. We are all exposed to some forms of manipulation which are less than ethical. Some manipulation techniques we encounter every day include:
Having the victimizer offer us several choices yet they all lead to the same conclusion. For instance, a salesperson may offer you several packages but they all lead to the purchase of an item.
The manipulator may keep repeating the same phrase over and over again so that it sticks in your head. The more a [person hears something, the more it becomes sublimed and relatable. The manipulator seeks to get you in a comfort zone and then manipulate you. Once an idea sticks in your mind, the manipulator uses it to get to you.
A manipulator can use emotional manipulation to put the victim in a heightened state of emotions such that he/she cannot employ logic in decision making. In brainwashing, the manipulator uses anger and fear to get to the victim. However, in mind control, the manipulator uses emotions such as sadness and love. For instance, a manipulator can make his/her victim feel bad or worthless if they do not comply or do the “right” thing.
The manipulator can make you feel like the world will cave in on you at any moment. He/she shows you that the only way out of the situation is through their ideas.
The use of children in advertisements to display innocence, the use of certain music and voice tones in a marketing display.
While reading these techniques, you might have recognized one that has been used over and over in your environment. A political party or new brands have slogans they keep repeating such that you can relate to it as soon as you hear it. A news channel can repeat a consistent message to pass their its across. Most marketing agencies are not using manipulation techniques to turn you into a thoughtless robot but they are gradually influencing most of our decisions.
These manipulative techniques are present in every sector of life. However, the good news is that you can avoid these manipulation and control techniques if you are proactive. Avoiding dark psychology techniques first involves avoiding the manipulators themselves but this is very hard. How can you avoid advertisements while they are placed all over? It can be very expensive to avoid advertisements and still watch TV. To that end, your best strategy is to avoid what you can and find a balance e for the rest.
The best way to find a balance amidst all these chaos is to get the needed information. First, identify the manipulative segment of information you have received. Analyse it and find an opposing message – is there a manipulative edge to it? What is the most unbiased version of the message?
Compare these options from different sources and decide how you feel. Manipulation and mind control be it mild or extreme is majorly enabled by isolation. If you constantly listen to mind controlling messages and hardly expose yourself to other alternatives there will be higher chances of being manipulated. You are more likely to accept what you hear repeatedly. Your best bet of avoiding the manipulation techniques mentioned above is to gather as much information as possible instead of settling for a limited scope of messages. After all the manipulator intends to make you stay within the scope of comfortable and repeated information.
Users of mind control techniques.
There are varieties of people who use mind control techniques with good intentions and others for selfish reasons. A counsellor or therapist who is trying to help a person overcoan addiction by using in control techniques has good intentions. However, psychopaths, sociopaths, and narcissists use these techniques for their selfish gains. In fact, these manipulators can use mind control techniques simply because they can. The reason why such people are able to mind control others without thinking of the consequences is because they lack conscience.
Because the majority of us do not know the exact meaning of narcissists or psychopaths, we often call manipulators something else such as a controlling wife, an abusive husband, a control freak boss, a jealous boyfriend, a verbally abusive spouse or a very strict manager. When you closely examine these people, you will realise that they might be having a personality disorder.
Mind control victims
Every person can be a victim of mind control techniques. You too are susceptible to mind control and that is why you need to learn how to identify manipulators and stop them in their tracks on time. There is a myth saying that only the vulnerable and weak people are susceptible to mind control. Some people also believe that people who are victims of mind control have something wrong in them. Well, that is a myth and believe is wrong. Anyone can fall in the trap of a manipulator and in fact, anyone who thinks that he/she can never be a victim is more likely to fall under that spell because he/she is not on the lookout.
The best way to protect self from mind control and manipulation is to understand the techniques and tools used by the victimisers to attract and keep you under their spell. Below are some of the real mind control techniques that have been used traditionally by individuals and groups and are still applied today by manipulators.
Isolation
Isolation has been used by different manipulative people and groups to facilitate abuse over the years. Physical, emotional and social isolation can be very powerful. According to researches, physical isolation is the strongest form but where the manipulator is unable to use this, he/she attempts to isolate the victim mentally. isolation can be achieved in a number of way including taking the victim to a different location for a long period to criticising the people he/she trusts in order to plant elements of doubt. A manipulator using mind control to manipulate another may limit the information flow as a way of managing any source that might influence the person.
Criticism
A manipulator will always ensure that the manipulator does not sense anything out of the ordinary. He/she will, therefore, talk to the victim as if they are on the same team. The talks will be more of “us against the world”. This way, the victim will feel glorified to be associated with someone who sees the world differently. This method is used to isolate the victim.
Peer pressure and social proof
Normally, people seeking to manipulate large groups of people use this technique. Social proof is a strategy used to make others believe in what others do. The psychological phenomenon identifies that just because “everyone does that” then it is right and justified. This mental control tool works well in instances where the victims do not know what to think or do in a particular situation. A lot of people look at what others are doing and follow the same example. In fact, the majority of us do not want to be the weird ones, therefore, we fall under peer pressure.
Fear of alienation
A manipulator ensures that the victim over-relies on him/her. Consequently, the victim feels afraid of being alienated. That warm feeling of having someone support you can blind a person. And even after the manipulated person realises that there are some things going wrong, he/she might be afraid of walking away. The outside world might seem lonely and unsafe.
Repetition
though this is an obvious thing done by many people across the world, manipulation can be a very powerful manipulation tool. Constant repetition can be used to persuade a person. When you think of it, repetition is too simple to be an effective persuasion too. How can a person be controlled through repeated words and actions? However, repeating the same message over and over makes it easier and familiar thus sticks I the mind. If a person then combines repetition with social proof, the chances of successful mind control are high.
Another form of repetation that proofs the success of the technique is affirmation. Many people seeking change are advised to constantly self-affirm themselves. For instance, people undergoing anger management therapy are advised to say some phrases such as ‘I can control this anger, I am in charge of this moment’ to help them cool down. Surprisingly, such repetitions work and over time, the person begins to think and behave in a certain way.
Fatigue
Fatigue interferes with the thinking capacity of an individual. When you are physically and mentally tired, you are less alert. A manipulator may take this opportunity to interfere with your decisions. According to the journal of experimental psychology, one study revealed that people who were deprived of sleep for more than 21 hours were more likely to fall for suggests unlike those who had enough rest.
Forming a new identity
The first step of a manipulator is to change you – redefine your identity such that you do whatever he/she says. Ultimately, a manipulator wants you to become like a puppet or robot, that is someone who mindlessly follows orders. Using the above-mentioned techniques and other mind control tools, the manipulator will try to make you confess or make an acknowledgment that he/she is a good person and you trust their word.
These manipulators will not try to impose their rules on you all at once. First, it will be a simple thing such as admitting that the manipulator is a good and inspiring person. Once you acknowledge their goodness, it becomes easier to accept other things, one after the other. Before you even realise it, out of the repetitive acceptance of things, it becomes part of you to sing to the tune of the manipulator.
How effective are mind control techniques?
There are some factors affecting the effectiveness of mind control. For instance, the technique used affects the extent of influence. Other factors include,
How often is the victim exposed to the techniques?
The length of time that a person is exposed to the techniques,
Whether there is hypnotic mind control or hypnosis used,
The number of techniques used at any given time,
The amount of direct contact between the victimizer and the victim,
The skillfulness of the manipulator
Presence of other physical persuasion and manipulation strategy such as sexual abuse
Whether the person is getting support from other people who can see the intentions of the manipulator.
To demonstrate the effectiveness of mind control, let us look at some examples. If a person has a spouse who is a manipulator, and they live together in the same house, spending more hours together, sharing a lot of information, and has little connection with people in the outside world, the impact of mind control will be higher compared to someone who spends only two hours a week with a manipulator. The victim spending more time with the victimiser will be more affected than one who spends very little time.
For those people in One on one manipulation cults, more so if an intimate relationship is present, such as husband and wife, all the attention is on one person. The results of the techniques used can be very devastating. Nowadays, people use the term ‘complex trauma’ to describe what happens to kids and young adults who are brought up by narcissistic and psychopathic parents.
If we look at the state of the world today, it is easy to understand why more people are looking for ways to get approval and safety amidst the chaos. Being isolated or left out is frightening things to most people thus are susceptible to mind control and manipulation. So long as the manipulator seems to be offering a solution to a particular problem, then the victim will keep drifting into the falsely designed world.
Mind control and decision-making
Decision making is very important in life. Your success is mainly determined by the decisions you make, big or small. Keep in mind that the manipulator controls your decisions while making it seem as if you are the one in charge, it is important to know how to counter them.
The thought of making a decision makes some people frightened while others groan in agony. Other people will do anything to avoid DECISION MAKING. Others know the right decision but are afraid of making it because they do not want to fail and take the blame. Simply put, most people want someone else to take the blame, and in the event of failure, they can say it was peer pressure pushing them.
It is vital for a person to have one or two decision making processes at work, not necessarily to guarantee success but at least to make life a bit easier and avoid manipulation. But a question arises, should we use an intuitive mode o decision making or a rational one? That will depend on the situation. Sometimes you will be required to make quick decisions while others need time and critical analysis. Therefore, you will need to understand the situation before making a choice. Furthermore, you will need to constantly consider ways of improving your decision-making skills – to reduce stress and at the same time save you money, time and effort. The better your decision-making skills, the more you can avoid manipulation. To improve your decision-making process, you need to understand mind control and manipulation. Could someone be making your decisions for you and yet making you feel like you are in charge? Could be someone is making decisions for you and still making you feel independent. that is what you want to avoid. MANIPULATION and MIND CONTROL.
Truthfully, there are good decisions and bad decisions in life. In fact, there are some decisions we never make. Most of the situations that need decision-making skills have a number of choices to pick from. And these options are the cause of conflict. We are often torn between choices, hoping that we pick the best one. However, making the decision does not always solve the conflict especially if things do not turn out the way we had hoped. Decision making means rejecting some possibly positive choices for others. And there is pressure to make the best choice and relieve the conflict. It is not always easy, but there are things you can do to improve the process.
To take control of our success and entire life, and to avoid manipulation, Know what you stand for and use that as a guide. Do not be swayed by every bit of information people give you. Making personal decisions is very important especially when you make mistakes. Technically, the secret to success is good decisions. To make good decisions you need experience, and experience comes from bad decisions and failures. So, making mistakes should not scare you, if anything, it will improve your intuition.
Tips for making great decisions without manipulation.
Below are some of the most common decision making tips you should consider before making a decision. By learning these tips and considering the ideas, you will have an easier time making a decision when the time comes. Some of the tips written here may contradict the norm but they are used by some of the most effective decision makers successfully. Using these decision-making tips does not only make you a great decision maker but also improve your life.
Tip 1: You are number one
Any decision you make will affect you, directly or indirectly. You are very important and need to put yourself first. It is important that your life gets better because of the decisions you make. Though putting yourself might sound selfish, it is better to be doing a thing for yourself than spending your life under the shadow of other people. As the saying goes, you can only give what you have and if your life is full of unmade decisions, it does not benefit anyone. Spend time doing the things you want to do for yourself first before venturing into sharing.
Note that putting yourself first does not mean ignoring everyone else. It means that you have taken care of yourself well enough to be of value to other people. Of course, once in a while, you can go out of your way to do things for others but first access if they can do the same for you. If a partner cannot go out of his/her way to help you, take your time to sort it out. You are the most important thing in your life, and when you are not in good shape, chances of being manipulated are high.
Tip 2: What is important to you?
What do you consider important to you? Is it your family, your work, your career, or your passion? In most cases, our decisions are influenced by what we value in life. For instance, if you consider family as the most essential part of your life, chances are, you will look for ways to ensure that every member is happy, healthy and getting what they want. If your career is very important, then you will always look for ways to improve yourself in that sector. It is therefore very easy for a person to manipulate you if he/she notices a deficit in what you value. For instance, a person may offer you a seemingly good deal such as paying for your higher education in exchange for something else.
To seal such loopholes, ensure that most of your basic and important things are met. Do not make excuses if you fail. Identify ways of improving your life. Do not compromise.
Tip 3: Make your own decisions
There is nothing more encouraging than following though decisions you have made personally. And that is why a manipulator ensures you do not discover their intentions. Majority of us do not value decisions made by other persons as those we make on our free will. Personal decisions are the real drivers of success. Once you start making your choices, manipulators will have a hard time influencing you. By allowing another person to make your decisions, you are allowing him/her to run your life. You will always be powerless and dependent on them. Besides, having the ability to make your own decision makes you more confident. Whether you win or lose, every decision is a learning experience.
Tip 4: Take responsibility
Taking responsibility means being accountable for your decisions and their results. No one wants to fail and that is one of the reasons why people avoid making big decisions. It is our human nature to look for someone to blame when things are going wrong AND THAT IS WHY MOST PEOPLE Avoid making BIG DECISION – What if it goes wrong?
In most cases, we fear to make big decisions because of insecurity. To mitigate these fears, you need to have a set of values and believes that act as a guideline to your life. Consequently, your decision-making process will be easier. When you start taking responsibility for your decisions, a lot of things come to play.
First, you become empowered. Every good decision you make builds your confidence.
Secondly, if things do not work out as expected, you will never be a victim. Having made that choice by your own judgement, it means you are not a victim of someone else’ s bad decisions.
Thirdly, You are free to change your mind anytime. Changing a decision halfway through someone else’s plan can be very hard.
Fourthly, a good decision-making process prepares you for all possible consequences. While analysing your choices, you have the chance to study all the possible outcomes.
Finally, Other people respect you once you start making your own decisions. a manipulator will lack the opportunity to control your choices.
Tip 5: Acknowledge that not all decisions will give you positive results.
Most of us are unable to make decisions because we are afraid of the outcome. In fact, some of us want to know the results before the process. This fear makes one unable to make decisions especially if they are very urgent. The need to know results before anything else only stalls our decision-making ability leading to counter productivity.
The world today is very chaotic and unexpected things are happening every other minute. Consequently, it is very hard to predict the results of our decisions with utmost clarity. Life is moving fast and you too will have to make some decisions pretty quickly before things get more chaotic. Acknowledge that you do not have to know the final result. Also, know that failing to make a decision will not make things any better. All you can do is know the next single step and take it. That way, you will gradually get closer to your outcome. The best part is, you can change your mind anytime (Although this is not always possible).
The more you make decisions, the easier it becomes and the more you learn how to avoid manipulation.
Tip 6: Review and update
Once you identify a way/procedure of making decisions, it is important to assess its validity. How much has the process improved your life and are there things you can do to make it better? Are you getting where you want to go? If there are loopholes, look for a way of sealing them. Sometimes one feels the need to stick to a plan once it is set but interestingly, change is the only constant thing in life. Feel free to change your process if it is not working for you.
Tip 7: Permission to change
Always leave some room for change. Give yourself permission to alter plans to your liking. This way, you will be conscious of the things happening within and around you, thus being able to spot a manipulator when he/she approaches. Change is key to learning new things.
Tip 8: Be reluctant to change
Though this tip may sound confusing because it contradicts the previous one, it is also true. Basically, sticking to a plan may help you to achieve your goal. Before making a change, stick to your decision for as long as possible. Most successful people will tell you that consistency is the key.
Do not change your mind every time you meet a hurdle. Do not give up every time you come across a challenge. Sometimes all you need is to hang in there a while longer. So, unless it is clear that the goal you are aiming for is not viable any longer, follow your decision. If you must change, ensure that you commit yourself to the new course 100 percent.
These tips will help you to become a better decision maker thus avoiding mind controlling people and manipulators.
2) Manipulating the mind Through NPL
NLP, the mind, and ultimate control
Have you ever wondered how some people are able to handle change constructively and creatively? While some people are knocked off balance by changes in their lives, others seem to fit right in perfectly. Why is it that some people seem to be in the right place at the right time? How comes some people have good relationships while others cannot get it together even for a week? Is there some form of good luck or inborn traits, making some people more successful than others?
One of the professors at the University of California called John Grinder and his student called Richard Bandler started to work on a behavioural study project in the 1970s. They observed the behaviours of successful people and were more interested in why some people so good at what they do when compared to others. The findings helped them to develop the neurolinguistics programming which involved observing, codifying and replicating the behaviours and thought patterns of successful people. The programming explores the relationship between our neuro (how we think) linguistic (how we communicate) and programs (pour patterns of emotions and behaviours).
The background of Neuro-linguistic programming is that positive behaviours that lead to success can be copied. The professor and the student were interested in the difference between the thought patterns, behaviours and language use of successful and unsuccessful people. Their findings are the basis of NLP today. Simply put, the researchers claimed that success has very little to do with luck. You do not have to be lucky in order to succeed. Changing your approaches to life can help you to become more successful in relationships, career, social spec, and other situations. Though some people develop natural ways of becoming successful, these ways of thinking, acting, and speaking can be learnt by anyone who is willing to give it a shot.
The Neurolinguistics programming was developed years ago but a lot of redefinition has taken place over the years. Currently, NLP has become a commonly used technique in self-development and therapy. It is used in education, business, military and above all, for individuals. NLP can be successfully applied in personal life and a lot of big companies train their staff on how to use NLP with clients.
Basically, NLP is about how we develop mental representations sounds, images and verbal descriptions of different situations. When we become aware of the internal maps of reality within us, it becomes easier to consciously change our inner landscape and consequently respond differently to people and situations in the outside world.
One of the main benefits of using NLP is that results can be seen very quickly. For instance, people with some kinds of phobias can be treated in a matter of minutes using some of the techniques found in NLP. Further, blockages and fears can be dealt with easily and quickly through the use of NLP. Honestly speaking, NLP has shed a lot of light on how we interact with our physical and social environments and other aspects of life.
NLP, manipulation and mind control
Can NLP help you avoid negative manipulation and mind control? Yes, NLP can help anyone to fight manipulators. Often, we move along life on autopilot- responding to life in an extensively automatic way. This leaves us vulnerable to manipulation because we hardly analyse situations critically and make strong decisions. When living life on autopilot, we tend to follow what other people are doing (social proof) and also allow other people to influence our choices. Sometimes go through life drive by those subconscious programmes which we have learnt and practiced for years – some of them we practice since childhood.
Some self-development advocates and personal change ambassadors can fail to explain to us how we can avoid the specific tools we should apply to improve our lives. On the other hand, NLP lays out the tools you need to implement that change. It informs you that you are responsible for your actions, reactions, and responses to the situations in life. NLP allows you to get behind the steering wheel and take charge of your life instead of having another person drive you around.
NLP is practiced more because of its practicality – The tools are functional and a wide range of challenges can be addressed through NLP. Some of the issues include;
Developing better relationships,
Becoming more healthy
Overcoming phobias and fears such as fear of public speaking,
Improving communication
Being more successful and impactful in your career and family life.
Success in any field of life, be it career, sport, family, et cetera requires excellence. Neuro-linguistic programming is a roadmap for this excellence. Although other factors like luck and innate ability play a role in the success of an individual, the majority of NLP tools must be applied. Success is a predictable result of behaving and thinking in a certain way.
Mind control and NLP for relationships
We all want to create relationships with ease. No one wants to feel lonely or unable to fit in with others. According to researches, success is mostly based on the relationships one creates. People who are able to initiate and maintain good, mutual, and productive relationships with others are more likely to succeed compared to those who do not maintain rapport.
Building good relationships do not come naturally to everyone. However, with NLP tools and perspectives, this skill can be learnt and developed.
In any relationship, communication is inevitable. Basically, communication does not stop. Even when a couple fights and the two people give each other silent treatment, communication is still going on – they are telling each other about the stress, anger, and manipulation quietly.
If a frustrated teenager chooses to eat dinner in his/her room behind closed doors, He/she is communicating something to himself and the family. Even in the most neural situations, people still communicate through body language and movement of the eyes.
Simply understanding that communication is continuously taking place can make a huge difference in most relationships. Since much of our communication is indirect, unconscious and nonverbal, knowing the messages we pass through body language and eye contact can help us to become more conscious of the things we say and do to others. Human beings send out signals to each other all the time and becoming more aware of how we pass the message is the first step to better relationships.
In the book titled awareness, the writer, Antony de Mello states that awareness can help us to change our lives a great deal. If one was to do nothing else apart from becoming more conscious off his/her habits, it would make a great difference in relationships. In fact, good communication can help you to get things done. Good communication helps a person to build confidence and consequently warding off manipulators.
Communication involves understanding that the perceptions of other people are not necessarily wrong if they differ from ours. We tend to think that the way we see things is right and the only reality. NLP reminds us that our opinion of the word is developed through the filters we have developed for ourselves over the years such as values and expectations.
Once we acknowledge that our perception is not the only reality, then it becomes easier to understand and communicate with others. We cannot see the world in the same way because everyone has a different model and map LEADING TO DIFFERENT BEHAVIOURS. Such an understanding can help you to deal with different people including the manipulators.
The first habit of highly successful people is to understand then seek to be understood. In today’s world, most of us are in a rush, therefore, have no time to understand others before responding. Many of us listen to reply rather than to receive the message. NLP INFORMS US THAT Our personal map of the world is not a territory that requires protection. We can benefit more from understanding the maps of other people rather than staying in our own cocoons.
The people with good communication skills, high levels of understanding and flexible behaviour are more likely to control situations compared to the rigid ones. Even in the wild, animals and plants that adapt to the changes in the environment very fast are more likely to survive longer than others. Businesses that accommodate the changes in the economy and social environments are more successful than those opposing them. The same applies to individuals.
Basically, a person who understands the maps believes, and practices of others can switch between them and reach a wider variety of people. He/she will also be able to establish good and lasting relationships. Anyone who becomes rigid to one way of doing things and thinking will gradually be left become irrelevant as the world changes.
Strong relationships are formed on communication. Without communication, people will not know how to handle others. For instance, if a person is doing something which you do not like and you fail to tell him/her so, he/she will probably do the same things without realising they are affecting you. However, if you express yourself in a respectful manner, the person will avoid hurting you. A manipulator needs to be addressed firmly and effectively in order to deter him/her.
The true meaning of communication is found in the response it produces and the results we get. In most cases, we blame others for failing to understand us. However, NLP teaches us that we are responsible for passing the message and if the other person does not understand, we need to change our method of communication. Again, all this is about flexibility – being able to understand others and adopting their ways. To pass the message across, you sometimes have to communicate in the terms of the other person, by first understanding his/her world, and getting to know the map. You need to put your perspective aside for a while and assess things from the other side.
In life, people do the best they can with what they have. For instance, when a child falls down, he/she begins to scream or cry. Why? Because he/she knows that crying and screaming will attract the attention of an adult who will help. Experience has taught the child. Adults tend to use more complex and sophisticated ways, but the same principle from childhood holds – we do what will give the best results.
According to NLP, every behavior has a positive intention even though we might not understand. Developing and maintaining relationships is basically about understanding why people behave the way they do – not from our perspective but from theirs. Good relationships are also about aa helping each other to identify and adopt more productive behaviors and giving each other the required resources. Truthfully, the majority of us are doing the best we can with what we have. Consequently, the best gift to offer someone is a new tool. You might not be able to solve someone’s challenges but giving them the chance to do so will help to strengthen your relationship.
NLP encourages us to take responsibility and helps us to understand that people operate from one of the two perspectives – cause and effect. When a person is operating ‘at cause’, he/she sees that the control is in his/her hand and that it is possible to change or improve the situation. On the other hand, a person operating ‘at effect,’ blames other people for the current circumstances. When ‘at effect’, we blame others for our failures. When ta effect, we take the responsibility and strive to improve the situation.
In all the perspectives, the truth is that we are in control of our circumstances – making the decision on where we should work. If a relationship is not working out the way you hoped, there are high chances of blaming the other person. In fact, a majority of us will want the other person to be put to task for our failures. The ideal plan should be to assess your own behavior and identify things that need to be changed within you. When operating ‘at cause’, you are more likely to improve your circumstances than when at effect. NLP will help you to act from at cause through seeking to understand the perspective of the other person and listening to them with the intention of helping.
NLP helps us to build better relationships by making us understand that people are not their behavior. Technically, all of us are doing the best we can with what we have. The resources we have at our disposal are major determinants of our behaviors. If we had more or fewer resources and a different perspective, we would behave differently. Such an understanding can help you build a better relationship and deal with manipulators.
Do not label people based on their current behavior, may be given a different circumstance, they would act better or worse. Maybe that manipulator had a very rough childhood thus making him/her feel the need to be tougher than everyone else. MAYBE THE MIND CONTROLLER IS FEELING WEAK AND AFRAID ON THE INSIDE AND is looking for ways to act have control. Note, however, that you do not have to allow people to manipulate you just because you are feeling empathic. Even though that empathy is pushing you to help such people, do not make yourself a victim – Protect yourself first. After all, you cannot offer what you do not have.
Behaviors change all the time as we grow and learn. What we consider as bad relationships can be turned around using NLP, once we learn how to be proactive and take control.
The power of Persuasion
3) Mind control with NPL for love and Relationships
4) The power of Persuasion
How is it that some people are so good at convincing others to do things? How do some people manage to persuade others into things they wouldn’t normally do? The skills of a manipulator and situation a person is in determine the extent to which one can be influenced. How much a person can persuade you is determined by your current state. For instance, if you are lonely, hungry tired or even needy in some way, then the chances of you being persuaded rise. Simply put, you can get a hungry man to do anything so long as you promise him a plate of food.
So, ensuring that all your basic needs are met, emotionally and physically can make you less susceptible to con artists who appear to offer solutions to them but as for too much in exchange. Something that seems to meet a certain need in your life, more so if it is basic can seem very persuasive. One might think that he/she will notice when a person is trying to manipulate him or her but, the techniques used to persuade are very subtle and some of the tools used are very basic thus we are not always conscious of them.
According to psychologist Robert Cialdini, there are six major principles of persuasion and they are not always used for bad intentions. He explains that if a person used these skills to improve the lives of others, then it is a good thing. If someone persuaded the other not to drink and drive, then that is a good thing.
Factors affecting the power and effect of persuasion according to Robert Cialdini
1 Reciprocity
The first and most common principle affecting persuasion is reciprocity. Basically, you will find that whenever a person does you a favour, you feel obligated to do something in return to show appreciation. Interestingly, this feeling is in the subconscious mind such that we are not really aware of its presence. A statement such as “I owe you one” or “I am much obliged” is used to show someone that we are grateful for their assistance and that we can hope in and help them whenever needed because of something they have done for us.
A manipulator who knows these techniques can use a small favor to get to you to reciprocate. Sometimes, this manipulator will look for something that you really need and step in to help. In return, they will ask for something that is way out of your bracket. And because ‘you are obliged’, you will reciprocate the favor. The concept of reciprocity has been used widely by companies. First, they offer free samples to customers who will then feel the need to give back by buying the item even if it does not meet the standards.
I noticed that one of my friends does not accept free samples in malls so I asked her why she does not sample the designer perfumes offered. She said, “That is how we get trapped. You sample it and they salesperson talk you into buying it even though it is overpriced. And since you already sampled, reciprocity comes into play.” That explanation made a lot of sense to me.
Of course, there are people who do favors for others without expecting anything in return but you have to beware. Others are manipulative and in the majority of us, the feeling of owing someone is a very big decision influencer.
2. self-consistency
Another principle of persuasion is self-consistency. Robert Cialdini found some people are more likely to stick with an idea or goal they committed to (verbally or in writing ) because of self-image. There are people who associate commitment with self-image and personality. Though there is nothing wrong with being committed, some extent is not justified. These people who apply the principle of self-consistency can get so lost in their idea that even when it becomes invalid, the continue to honor it.
We like to present a consistent image to the world and to ourselves. As such, it becomes hard to leave a thing we started even after realizing that it is not worthy. Gradually, we develop a sense of sympathy to the idea we have been following such that quitting is hard.
The term brainwashing is derived from a Chinese expression that literally means ‘to wash the brain’. The concept of brainwashing became clear during the Korean War. The Chinese who were instructed to repeat certain pro-Communist and anti-American ideas to prisoners gradually began to believe the statements themselves. A believe you practiced but did not believe gradually becomes part of you.
People who follow the lead bully often start out doing small favors and tasks. After a while, it becomes hard to leave the practice because of maintaining face in public. So, when the lead bully becomes absolutely selfish to others, the followers are unable to make a different choice. Do not underestimate the power of the fear of loneliness. Do not undermine the need to be consistent and to feel. It can make a person do things he/she would not do under normal circumstances.
3 Social proof
The power of social proof is something no one can deny. We are mostly herd creatures of society in many ways. As human beings, we tend to follow what others are doing. IGF a million people are doing a certain thing, then they can not be wrong, so we follow them. Do you think people would wear pants that revealed their innerwear if no one else was doing it? If a large number of people starts to sing along some weird songs, chances are, others will join the crowd. We tend to do things done by other people.
Of course, we have to realize that there are things done by crowds with perfectly good reasons. However, there is a ‘madness of the crowd’ concept whereby we do not want to think for ourselves. That is a very strong persuasion tool used by manipulators and persuaders.
4 perceived authority
One powerful persuader is a confident authoritative attitude. Have you ever walked into an office with nothing but confidence and authority and gotten what you want? Do you understand why they say confidence is very important during an interview? An authoritative manner can persuade people. Anyone will think that you have power and knowledge just because of a confident appearance.
Most of the ex-Nazis explained that they just followed orders of their leaders. Just because someone with authority said it, then it must be correct. Titles to add to the perceived authority. For example. A teacher, a scientist or a king can say anything and it appears correct.
In the 1960s Stanley Milgrams did experiments revealing that most people can carry out highly questionable and cruel acts so long as the person asking has the perceived authority. The problem with this [principle of perceived authority is that it can easily be faked by putting on the appropriate uniform, speaking in a certain manner and behaving in a particular way. All of us are capable of falling for fake authority. Once again, we allow someone to do the thinking for us.
5 Likeability
On the face, there is nothing particularly sinister about likability. Interestingly, it has been identified as the fifth principle of persuasion. Likable people are very persuasive. Everyone can easily fall for the charm of a likable person. It has been found that people are more likely to purchase things from someone they like and that is why many companies look for likable salespersons. Likable people are often attractive and if they try too hard, it comes across as smarmy. However, if we truly like them, there are high chances of us purchasing things from them. In fact, how many times have you heard a person who was conned say “but he/she seemed nice”?
The world has conformed to the concept that attractive people are more likable, cleverer, braver and better than plain ones. That mentality is termed as ‘the HALO effect’. The challenge is, even the most attractive people might not have pure intentions towards you.
6 Scarcity
The fact that gold is rear makes it more interesting to find and purchase. You have heard people say that if diamonds grew on trees, no one would care about them, but now that they are rear, we value them. What makes them so precious is their scarcity – there are not many of them around. That is why offers in the malls have deadlines. It is also the reason why you hear sales person saying “ we can only give this offer till Monday” or “ this offer is valid while this stock lasts, and people are buying a lot” The thought that these items will soon be scarce will make you want to make a purchase. The perceived scarcity adds value to the product.
In the case of people, this scarcity experiences run deep and affect us more than we think. For instance, if we have a partner or spouse who is grumpy moody and disagreeable most of the time, we might fall into the trap of feeling extremely grateful when they display a shred of happiness. In such a case, we will be manipulated into doing things for the person in order to get a glimpse of that rare happy moment. Their pleasant behavior is scarce therefore very valuable to us.
Psychologist B.F Skinner, a behavioralist found that inconsistent rewards are more compulsive and addictive because of the scarcity. Therefore, a dog that is not always rewarded with food will act more compulsively than that which is used to food every now and then. Unbelievable but true, if gambling involved sure wins all the time, it would not be as interesting. Maybe the person who keeps going back to the abusive relationship is just addicted to the few good times that occur in that relationship. So, be on the safe side and stay aware of the people using the scarcity principle on you.
Beware of the people using these principles. Do not get persuaded by manipulators just because you are under the influence of scarcity or liking. Do not fall for fake authority or social proof tricks. It is okay to change if you find that something is not working as expected. If need be, lose the self-consistency and need to reciprocate.
6) the most powerful mind-power tool
A lot of research has been done by different scholars and therapists seeking to identify the strongest mind tool. Most of them have found that the most powerful mind tool is the mind itself. Do you know that age-old statement that goes “If you believe it, you can achieve it”? Have you ever given it a deep thought? Let us think together – If the mind believes that a certain medication will work, it releases healing chemicals into the bloodstream and they facilitate the process. On the other hand, if the brain believes that a treatment will not work, it probably won’t. Your thoughts are very powerful. If it believes that a particular therapy will not work, it hardly does. That effect is referred to as the “Nocebo effect”
The power of the mind should not be underestimated. This organ has the power to make us sick and to heal us. It can help us to soar to greater heights or stay stuck in the same position for years. The mind has the literal power to create your reality. Even some of those methods developed to help people reach their maximum potential such as meditation, hypnosis, affirmation, visualisation, brainwash music and emotional freedom techniques. Science explains to us about fake treatment and the placebo effect. If someone is given medication and convinced it will cure them, the brain will release a message to the body to heal. The intention of most of these methods (meditation, hypnosis, brainwash and affirmation et cetera) claim that they can change the subconscious mind and brainwave frequencies. Some people claim that they can relax and heal the minds of others.
Honestly, there is no dilemma behind these brain techniques. It is all about changing how we see the world and ourselves. Researches are revealing to us how the brain works. In life, everything Is energy and that is why your success or failure is determined by how positive or how negative you are about yourself and the situation. If you match the right frequency to the reality you want, there is no doubt, you will achieve it – and there is no other way.
Basically, we have two minds; the conscious and the subconscious. The conscious mind is responsible for our logical thinking abilities while the subconscious mind accounts for creativity and protection. While we are made to believe that our conscious mind is responsible for our decisions and actions that are as far from the truth as can be. The part that is actually In control is the subconscious mind which makes decisions 6 seconds before the conscious mind even understands the situation.
The subconscious mind
The subconscious mind is faster than the conscious mind and mostly responsible for our instant actions. For instance, if you are facing immediate danger, there is no time to logically analyse the situation but the subconscious mind which is responsible for our protection makes an instant decision.
Your reality is created by your point of view. What you think is what you see and get and that is why the saying goes “ If you look at the world with eyes of love, the world will love you back”. This means that you can change your reality by changing your point of view. If all it takes to change our reality is a different view, then why do we continue to struggle? Why have we not yet changed our life experiences? It is simply because we have not been told that we can. We do not really understand our potential – the potential of the mind.
Schools teach us how to conform to certain rules and society disapproves those who are different. We want to be different and similar at the same time; After all, if everyone is doing it, then it is right and normal. We seek to fit into that box which someone told us is very perfect not knowing that there is something better and different out there.
Utilising the power of the subconscious mind
Whatever gets communicated to your subconscious mind determines how far you can reach in life. The subconscious mind makes most of our decisions depending on what it has learned over the years. While the conscious mind mostly uses logic to make decisions, the subconscious mind uses emotions. Therefore, if you want to change the neuropathways, you must involve emotions. It is only those thoughts that are conveyed to the mind with genuine emotion make it to the subconscious mind. And only those thoughts passed on with genuine emotions stay in there for long.
Unfortunately, this rule applies to both negative and positive thoughts. To make matter worse, negative emotions are stronger and we often convey them with genuineness. Consequently, they get branded in our minds too deeply.
Negative self-talk and fear-
If you want to utilise the power of the subconscious mind the first step involves getting rid of the thoughts that were uploaded with negative emotions. Also, ensure that your self-talk is not full of negativity. In most cases, negative thoughts tend to come true, more so if you are emotional about them. That is why negative talk puts a person down and produces excess adverse effects. That is why you need to get rid of the negativity in order to harness the power of your brain.
You become stronger and more successful by getting rid of negativity. The manipulators who would have tried to manipulate you because you showed signs of weakness also leave you. You attract what you are and staying positive will bring you more good things. Think of it like this: There is an angel that is always following you and making your wishes come true especially if they are filled with emotions. Therefore, when you get to the office and think of how boring your job is, the angel goes writes that down and does whatever it can to make your wish come true. If you think that your life “ Is awful”, the angel notes that down and then fulfils it. This angel is your subconscious mind. You are hardly aware of its presence but it is right there listening to you. Be careful what you wish for-n You just might get it.
The manipulative group of people are well aware of this and will take advantage. Do you want to be on the receiving end of manipulators or to have your own power to decide what happens in your life? Can you afford to let negative thoughts to get into your mind anymore? If your answer is no, then it is time to use ‘the countering technique’. For every negative thought that crosses your mind, replace it with a positive one. You may also use ‘the delete button technique’ whereby, anytime a negative thought crosses your mind, imagine a delete button and press it. You can also imagine that the negative thought is a glass and smash t in your head. If it helps, you may have a punching bag where anytime you have negative thoughts, you literally punch it.
Burning emotion and desire- Remember that only those thoughts accompanied by genuine emotion will have a lasting position in the mind. Your subconscious mind will first act on those thoughts conveyed with real desire. When the subconscious mind is powered by desire, it will do anything to attain success. It will also open all the available channels to the conscious mind so that it can follow up on the initial thought.
To utilise the power of your subconscious mind and become successful, ensure that your goal is backed up with desire and emotions. That way, the Subconscious mind will work towards identifying and opening for you the right doors.
How powerful is desire? In the case of an athlete, the thought of being the best becomes the number one desire in life. It is so strong that the mind informs the body to make the necessary adjustments. The athlete will train for long hours, do whatever it takes to expand their horizons, and set their mind to reach the otherwise impossible goals.
How can you cultivate a burning desire for something?
First, identify what your goal is, be very specific. Make sure that the goal is as realistic as possible. You may write it down to facilitate the feelings.
Next, burn your bridges. This means letting go of any fall back plans and safety boats you might have set for yourself just in case you mess up. The mind does not push hard enough when it knows there is a backup plan. However, if there is no safety net, this same mind will work hardest to survive. Remember that we have evolved because of survival.
It is also helpful to pay attention to the small wins you will get every day. For instance, if your goal is to lose weight, you can record your progress on a graph. The more you see your small victories, the higher the chances of having more desire to succeed. Even if there are small bumps, seeing the bigger picture will fuel your desire.
Finally, look for things and people who understand your goal and are willing to cheer you on regardless of the situation. When a person has the right support, he/she feels more desire to reach the goal. Make sure that the need to achieve your goal is present every day. Write it on a note and stick it in the fridge, put it in a photo frame and hung it up somewhere, Look for a color code to illustrate it – whatever it takes to remind you consistently. Keep the subconscious mind bombarded with this desire to succeed.
