Everyone in their life experiences things. I must say that I have had my fair share of experiences. Experiences that I am glad that had happened and some that I wished never happened. Everything in life happens for a reason and the things that happened in my life made me a better person. I’m going to tell you about my favorite experience that I happened to do recently.

Last year I went with my dance repertory on tour in Chicago. These experiences brighten my eye to the world I have never seen. We performed for schools in Chicago. It was black districts that had not seen many dances or other kinds of art. These people are a lot less fortunate then we are.  These children treated us as if we were superstars. I receive respect from all the students I performed for. I saw things I never thought I would see. I meet some of the nicest most talented people on this trip.

At one of the schools we got time to teach a class or two. This was my favorite part of the trip. We taught a class part of one of our dances. This was our praise dance and some of the girls had learned praised dance before. It was such a great experience because it build up my confidence and taught me that there is more to life then what happens in the small town that I live in. I was privileged to see the things I saw and the things I got to do.

In Chicago we not only traveled to schools but we got to travel Chicago and see what it’s like for ourselves. We got to see the colleges around the area and see the sites. The most important part was our dance group became a family instead of just a group that performs together.

This experience reminded me of what else is out there and how others live. It’s something in my life that I would never take back. It’s something that made me grow stronger as a person.
