Benefits of early cancer diagnosis

Introduction

I would definitel take the test.

This is because early diagnosis could aid in getting the necessary treatment on time. Additionally, this type of cancer mostly starts in the cells that produce mucus and found on the walls of the stomach according to Schulte et al. (2009). In the recent past, cases of stomach cancer have been increasing and to some extent, most cases have linearity at the family level. This, therefore, means taking regular tests among family members could help in combating the disease (Lerman, 1999).

After someone is diagnosed with this type of cancer ion time, medical specialists get an opportunity to determine if cancer has started developing in other parts and if so to what magnitude. This staging process is very crucial since it forms the basis the cancer treatment process is going to take. The importance of this phase is because it also helps the patient and the medical specialist involved in selecting the best treatment method available (Brahmer, 2012). This process greatly helps doctors in analyzing the survival statistics of the same. On my side, getting positive information that I have a high chance of surviving the disease would be good news.

Positivity also helps in loosening the impacts of stomach cancer. For instance, a survey carried out in California revealed that patients suffering from stomach cancer could be exposed to a higher danger of a faster progression of the disease if they are affected by stress (Simonton et al. 1992). According to the National Cancer Institute, early screening of cancer could prevent the severity of the disease and even increase the life expectancy of the patient by slowing down its progression (Swan et al. 1993). Another reason why I would prefer taking the stomach cancer test is that early detection may lead to less time in treatment. This also means that the recovery period will be less compared to starting treatment at a later stage. The cost of treatment also becomes more expensive as time goes by since the cancer cells keep multiplying and spreading to other parts of the body. Late treatment procedures are very costly and time-consuming.

The test also will help in determining whether there are abnormalities in the body that could result in cancer if left untreated. Cells may accumulate in different parts of the body thus causing bumps. At this stage, the bumps can be eliminated hence preventing cancer from developing. The preventive treatment that might be offered after the test could also help to prevent cancer. This is in case the medical specialist offers the required advice in matters concerning the positive dietary conditions and exercises according to Murray, (2012). This kind of information can only be offered by medical professionals after assessing the condition of cancer.

Conclusion

Therefore, accepting and participating in the stomach cancer test will have more benefits compared to the negative impacts of cancer screening. In case the stomach cancer cells are detected, the treatment in early stages may prolong the life expectancy as a patient since the progression of cancer will be slowed down.
