In the wake of new technology and the ever-expanding global economy and industries, there is a great need to have more companies and organizations adopt a systems way of thinking and management. Aligning the employees and the value of an organization to the new approach of systems thinking helps in the transformation of the organization from a traditional perspective to a more modern approach. Systems thinking also encourage the idea of holism in the workplace such that even the employees begin the culture of a holistic approach to the organization. A holistic approach using systems thinking also benefits the organization in that the performance is improved due to the lack of using traditional analyses. In discussing the use of systems thinking in an organization, this paper will identify the structural, intersectional (relationship) and the behavioral attributes in the most recent employer’s organization.
The organization I was working for dealt with selling personal care products to the customers and the market share. Some of the structural attributes in the organization included offering various payment options for the customer’s convenience and satisfaction, tracking the trends and the changes in tastes and preferences in both the market and the customers as well as catering to any feedback provided by the clients. On the other hand, the behavioral attributes include great interpersonal skills between the employees who would work on marketing campaigns together as well as other projects and departments. Additionally, other behavioral attributes included achievement orientation, locus of control, and focusing on problem-solving. The intersectional attributes in the organization included the ability to create clear communication pathways between the employees and the clients and the rest of the organization as well as recognizing how various actions by the employees and on the products sold can impact
