Affirmative policy in Michigan as brought both positive and negative effects. The positive effects have brought a smile to the citizens of the state; I, therefore, support the policy. Affirmative law policy increased diversity. Before this policy, the large population of the student at the University of Michigan was dominated by the white student, the blacks and the minorities could not get a chance for learning because they were under discrimination, but after the policy was passed, the population of a black student and the minorities increased.
In addition to that, it enabled to end violence against the minorities and facilitated equal sharing resources hence eradicating poverty which greatly affect their lifestyle and also their children education. Discrimination again was a major issue at the field of employment and at the workplace too, but this law as made an effort and increased the proportions of minorities at the workplace; furthermore, employers are prohibited against discrimination of their employees and should not refuse to hire anyone regardless of their skin color, gender or from the minorities groups. (Holzer, 2006).
The affirmative policy also promotes moral commitment. Through this, we can have the meaning of making a moral commitment in businesses and ensuring justice for all civilians. Therefore, moral values when enhanced at the workplace will enable free interaction among workers which brings about a conducive working environment at the workplace. Moreover, employees who come from minorities also have an alert of any promotions and job vacancy available from their employers.
This law also offers protection from hatred. Affirmative law acts as a complete shield to the minorities. Any assault against another person mainly on race or gender will be taken as a crime; therefore, anyone found guilty will face the law and this as help on the eradication of hatred in Michigan State.
From the discussion above, we see affirmative law is a rescue to the minorities and the black citizens of the Michigan state.it as enable university admission for the entire students regardless of their background and color hence they will be able to get opportunities which will propel them to a bright future. Furthermore, it has secured employment for the minorities and also eradicated discrimination during the offering of job opportunities.
